Tips for a 15 × 60 plot
- At 15 ft wide, one side strip of about 5 ft holds the toilets and stair, and the rest of the width is used for rooms. Avoid side setbacks if your local rules allow it, or the rooms get too narrow.
- A 60 ft deep plot can take a rear yard or utility court. Use it for washing, a water tank and light into the rear rooms.
- Plan the structure for at least one more floor than you build now. The extra cost of stronger columns and footings is small.
- Our drawings use the whole plot. Your local setbacks usually take 3–10 ft off the front and some off the sides and rear, so shrink the plan or pick the next smaller size. See the setbacks guide.
